Dr Isabelle Lys is a faculty/academic staff member in Biomedical and Health Sciences (BHS) in School of Behavioural and Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Australian Catholic University (ACU). She has experience in teaching and research in both Community Engagement (CE) in BHS disciplines/courses. She completed De La Salle University Uniservitate Service-Learning (SL) Course (2022), is a member of Carnegie Network Australia and a co-facilitator of the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Practitioner Scholar Committee (IARSLCE PSC) online course. As an ally for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Peoples, Dr Lys advocates for Indigenous Knowings in BHS. She is committed to working with various communities to lead/develop CE/SL curriculum/projects that are inclusive, reciprocal and evidence based.
Isabelle attained her Ph. D in General Medicine (Monash University, Australia), Masters of Education International (Charles Darwin University, Australia) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education UK (Advanced HE). She regularly works with local communities and schools, particularly rural/remote and low Socio-Economic Status (SES) K-12 schools, to develop sustainable STEM programs, and to deliver curriculum/activities/projects in global citizenship and Indigenous Knowings in sciences. I advocate for justice, equity, and equality for everyone’s access to education and research globally via CE/SL.
